The purpose of the study is to conduct research of a new PET radiopharmaceutical in cancer patients. The uptake of the novel radiopharmaceutical 18F-FPPRGD2 will be assessed in study participants with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), gynecological cancers, and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who are receiving antiangiogenesis treatment.

Giant Dysplastic Sinonasal Inverted Papilloma

Sinonasal Inverted Papilloma is known for its malignant change, recurrence, and local aggressiveness. Though the long-practised method of treatment is extensive local excision of the tumor, recent trends are changing towards endoscopic approaches. Our aim in presenting this case report is to add on to the literature regarding the ease of the endoscopic approach in managing an extensive IP where complete clearance was possible contradicting the older notion of requiring an extensive and radical open approach for complete clearance. We also aim to discuss the diagnostic challenge faced and management options in the diagnosis of IP when histopathology shows dysplastic changes.

Human Papilloma Virus Infection and Sinonasal Inverted Papilloma Recurrence: A Meta‐Analysis

AbstractObjectivePrior studies have been contradictory on the role of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP) recurrence. This systematic review and meta‐analysis was performed to further evaluate this potential association.Data SourcesPubMed, Embase, and Scopus electronic databases.Review MethodsCase‐control studies reporting SNIP recurrence data and HPV status identified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and in‐situ hybridization (ISH). Meta‐analysis was performed to determine pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).Results25 studies were identified including a total of 1116 benign SNIP tumors. A total of 267 SNIP were HPV+, 103 of which were recurrent, and 849 SNIP were HPV−, with 231 being recurrent. The pooled standard OR for recurrence in HPV+ tumors was 2.05 (95% CI: 1.31‐3.19). Stratification by low‐risk and high‐risk HPV subtypes were not statistically significant. The standard OR for SNIP recurrence in low‐risk and high‐risk HPV+ subtypes were 1.57 (95% CI: 0.98‐2.54) and 1.67 (95% CI: 0.98‐2.80), respectively.ConclusionInfection with HPV may be associated with an increased risk of SNIP recurrence. This increased risk seems to be independent of HPV subtype based on low‐risk or high‐risk status. However, this correlation was variable among recently published studies requiring additional investigation.

Simultaneous Nasal Septal Schneiderian Papilloma and Respiratory Epithelial Adenomatoid Hamartoma

Schneiderian papilloma is typically found on the lateral nasal wall, but, in rare cases, can be located at the mucosa of the nasal septum. Respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) is rare, non-neoplastic lesion characterized by an abnormal proliferation of glandular part of the respiratory nasal mucosa. We present a case of a 42-year-old man with five-year history of bilateral nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, epistaxis, and hyposmia. On endoscopic examination, we found lobulated, yellowish-pink soft tissue masses on both sides of the nasal septum. The results of histopathological analyses showed the characteristics of Schneiderian papilloma in the lesion excised from the right and REAH in the lesion excised from the left side of the nasal cavity. To our knowledge, cases of simultaneous presentation of Schneiderian papilloma and REAH on opposite sides of the nasal septum have not been published so far. An appropriate cooperation of rhinologist and pathologist allows for a correct diagnosis of these rare and unusual lesions.
