An experiment was made to obtain the activation energy and temperature coefficient in press vulcanization from the measurements of Mooney scorch time for 3 kinds of natural rubber compoundsBy assuming the time lag to be 2 min., both in the case of 5 points and 10 points rise, a linear relation was obtained between the log of scorch time (t - 2) and the reciprocal of the absolute temperature (1/T).From the results, it was apparent that the activation energy of the compounded rubber could be obtained much more efficiently by this method than by the modulus method, and that the temperature coefficient of vulcanization, calculated from the activation energy, was subject to a smaller error.
