Worldwide Clinical Trials (Worldwide), an international full-service contract research organization (CRO), has entered into an innovative partnership with Centrum Badan Klinicznych
PI-House, a leading Polish clinical research site, and the Polish Psychedelic Society (PTP). This collaboration marks the launch of Poland's first industry-sponsored psychedelic study, spearheaded by Worldwide, and aims to pave the way for further psychedelic research in the country. The partnership was announced during the second "Nauka Psychodeliczna" conference at the University of Warsaw, organized by the PTP and the Polish Drug Policy Network.
The conference drew more than 500 attendees in person and 250 online participants, including psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and mental health specialists. The PTP is dedicated to advancing research on psychedelic substances and fostering global scientific collaboration. As PTP board member Maciej Lorenc emphasized, “Poland is becoming a significant region for psychedelic research and therapy. There is an increasing need for new therapeutic methods to address mental health challenges, and collaboration is key to building a better future."
Khrystyna Grygoryshyn, a board member of PI-House, highlighted Poland’s potential as a hub for psychedelic research in Europe. Poland’s experienced psychiatrists and the patient base seeking innovative mental health treatments make it an ideal location. Collaborations with organizations like Worldwide, PI-House, and PTP aim to create a dynamic research network that will drive advancements in psychiatry and other fields.
Since 2017, Worldwide has been a strong supporter of psychedelic programs for psychiatric and other neuroscience treatments across North America, Europe, and APAC. Bartosz Janikowski, MD, Senior Vice President of Medical Sciences at Worldwide, reiterated the organization’s commitment to pioneering psychedelic research. He stated that Worldwide supports clinical trials through strategic initiatives and partnerships in Poland and beyond.
Centrum Badan Klinicznych PI-House, established in 2011 and based in Gdansk, Poland, has a long history in psychiatric research. Under the leadership of Dr. Hanna Badzio-Jagiełło, the site has completed over 70 psychiatric studies and decided in 2022 to focus on research involving psychedelic substances for psychiatric treatments. This decision led to upgrades in their quality management systems, infrastructure, and training programs. In addition to psychiatry, PI-House also conducts research in fields such as neurology, rheumatology, diabetology, and dermatology.
The Polish Psychedelic Society (PTP) is an initiative by the Polish Drug Policy Network aimed at supporting and popularizing scientific research on psychedelic substances. PTP seeks to create a platform for essential debate on the potential applications of psychedelics in science, medicine, psychotherapy, and culture, which could positively impact societal development. The PTP unites experts from various scientific fields and professions, including pharmacologists, psychiatrists, biologists, chemists, pharmacists, lawyers, psychologists, and sociologists, as well as activists and individuals interested in advancing science and discussions on psychedelics in Poland.
