Introduction

Severe cellulitis of the submaxillary space with secondary involvement of the perimandibular spaces. It usually results from infection in the lower molar area or from an infection following a penetrating injury to the MOUTH FLOOR.

Pantovigar - a high effective product designed primarily for the treatment of diffuse hair loss in women as well as for the treatment of damaged hair, in the combined therapy can be successfully applied in other types of alopecia.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate efficacy and tolerability of combination therapy Pantovigar plus 2% minoxidil vs 2% minoxidil. To collect tolerability data for combined treatment Pantovigar plus 2% Minoxidil course therapy.

Submandibular abscess originated from submandibular gland sialolithiasis: a case report

Sialolithiasis, or the formation of stones within the salivary glands, is a common cause of the submandibular gland's duct obstruction, which can lead to submandibular abscesses. We reported the case of a 56-year-old man with a submandibular abscess caused by sialolithiasis of the left submandibular gland. A 56-year-old male patient came with complaints of swelling and pain in the left submandibular area for one week. Patients also reported fever, dysphagia, and increased pain while eating. Physical examination showed diffuse swelling and redness in the left submandibular area. Head MSCT and panoramic radiography revealed the presence of stones in the duct of the left submandibular gland. The patient underwent surgical treatment for stone removal and abscess drainage. Postoperative follow-up showed significant improvement in the patient's condition without complications. If left untreated, sialolithiasis is a primary cause of blockage of the submandibular gland's duct, which can result in infections and abscesses. Prompt and appropriate treatment, including abscess drainage and stone removal, is essential to reduce morbidity. Early diagnosis through anamnesis, physical examination, and imaging are the keys to good outcomes. A submandibular abscess caused by sialolithiasis of the submandibular gland requires quick and appropriate treatment. Surgical treatment with abscess drainage and stone removal provides satisfactory results without complications.

Peritonsillar abscess complicated by internal carotid artery aneurysm in a pediatric patient with congenital hypoplastic posterior communicating artery: A case report

BACKGROUNDDeep neck space infections, particularly peritonsillar abscesses, can lead to severe complications in pediatric patients, including vascular injuries such as internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysms. Although rare, these complications require prompt recognition and intervention to prevent life-threatening outcomes.CASE PRESENTATIONWe report a case of a 14-year-old male presenting with a rapidly enlarging left-sided neck bulge, dysphagia, and fever persisting for two weeks. Initial examination suggested a peritonsillar abscess, but surgical drainage resulted in arterial bleeding. Imaging revealed over 90 % stenosis of the left ICA with an associated aneurysm. The patient underwent angioplasty and hematoma evacuation, followed by a multidisciplinary approach to manage complications, including femoral pseudoaneurysms.DISCUSSIONInternal carotid artery aneurysms are rare, especially in pediatric patients, and are often associated with deep neck infections. This case highlights the importance of advanced imaging and a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and manage such complications. The patient's congenital hypoplastic posterior communicating artery may have exacerbated the risk of ischemic events during ICA compromise.CONCLUSIONThis case underscores the critical need for vigilance in diagnosing and managing vascular complications arising from deep neck infections in pediatric patients. Early intervention and a collaborative healthcare approach are essential to prevent severe outcomes, including life-threatening hemorrhage. The findings emphasize the importance of preoperative vascular imaging in atypical presentations of neck infections to mitigate iatrogenic risks.

Association between endodontic, patient‐related factors and severe odontogenic infections; a South Australian retrospective audit

AbstractAimEndodontic conditions are associated with severe odontogenic infections. However, no studies have explicitly explored their role in the infectious process. This study aimed to assess associations between tooth‐related and patient‐related factors resulting in severe odontogenic infections and clinical care needs.MethodologyA retrospective audit was conducted of all records of patients who presented with severe odontogenic infections requiring admission between 2018 and 2023, at the largest public hospital in South Australia. Pericoronitis, postoperative, and non‐odontogenic infections were excluded. Associations between tooth‐related factors (type, location, presence/absence of caries, restorations, root canal filling, apical periodontitis, and space of infection), patients‐related factors (diabetes and smoking statuses), clinical management (length of admission, intensive care unit admission number of days, and need for general anaesthesia) were explored. χ2, Mann–Whitney's test and Fisher's exact test were used for statistical analysis, and the level of statistical significance was set at 5%.ResultsOf 382 records identified, 189 met the inclusion criteria. Mandibular (95.8%) molars (92.1%) were the most commonly offending teeth. Eight (4.2%) were root canal filled, 27 (14.3%) restored, 166 carious (87.8%), and 181 (95.8%) were associated with an apical radiolucency. Over half the sample were smokers (56.9%) and 16.4% were diabetics. The most common infection involved the submandibular space (56.1%). Intensive care unit admission was required for 157 patients (83.1%), and stay depended on the space of infection, with buccal space having the shortest duration (median 1 day) compared with submandibular (median 4 days) (p < .001). Need for general anaesthesia was associated with Ludwig's angina (n = 3, 100%) (p = .04) and submandibular space infection (n = 104, 98.1%) (p < .001), plus intensive care unit admission (p < .001). Conversely, for buccal space infection, the need for general anaesthesia was lower (n = 5, 23.8%). No further significant differences were found.ConclusionUntreated mandibular molars with apical periodontitis were the most frequent tooth‐related findings. Results from the present study suggest associations between the most severe clinical presentations (Ludwig's angina and submandibular infection) and complexity in clinical care. Buccal space infections required the least complex management.
