Investigation into the internal electronic channel and radical contribution in the in-situ H2O2 photosynthesis and concurrent pharmaceutical wastewater cleanup

Pharmaceutical wastewater purification is a paramount challenge, and the production and transportation of H₂O₂ remain safety concerns.Herein, novel 3-benzoylpropenoic acid was utilized as the electron acceptor linking with carbon nitride through the amide bond, realizing a delighted H₂O₂ generation of 4.29 mM mM g^-1 cat. h^-1 , together with a tetracycline removal efficiency of 89%, which can be attributed to the promoted charge transfer capacity and the strengthened surface adsorption of oxygen.Intriguingly, it is investigated that .O₂^- is an important factor for H₂O₂ synthesis, while .O₂^- and .OH both participate in pollutants treatment.Addnl., the applications in various pollutants further manifest the environmental adaptability and extensibility of the system.Addnl., the further introduction of iron ions enables the strengthened activation of H₂O₂ in a mild condition, thus accelerating the transformation of diclofenac into smaller mols.Such an investigation paves a promising way for the fabricating carbon nitride based systems with novel electron acceptor, and provide a mechanism guidance for the pollutants treatment paired with H₂O₂ synthesis.

Identification of Chlortetracycline Hydrochloride as a Antibacterial Compound Against Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 Through Natural Products Library Screening

Pseudomonas syringae (P. syringae) can infect over 50 different crops worldwide, causing significant economic losses, and it is one of the major bacterial pathogens affecting global crops. Currently, there are no effective control strategies for bacterial leaf spot disease caused by P. syringae. In this study, a high-throughput screening of 1680 natural products was conducted to evaluate their antibacterial effects. Microbial-derived compounds such as Polymyxin B sulfate (1), Methacycline hydrochloride (2), Tetracycline hydrochloride (3), Chlortetracycline hydrochloride (4), Demeclocycline hydrochloride (5), and Doxycycline hyclate (6) exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 (Pst DC3000), with inhibition rates exceeding 60%. Further research revealed that compound 4 had a minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.4 μM. After 12 h of treatment with 12.8 μM of compound 4, bacterial killing efficiency reached 98%. Moreover, compound 4 effectively inhibited the occurrence of bacterial leaf spot disease. In conclusion, this study suggests that microbial-derived natural products hold great potential as effective bactericides against Pst DC3000, providing a new approach for the control of bacterial leaf spot disease.

Riverine Suspended Particulate Matter as a Hotspot of Antibiotics in the Yellow River Delta, China: Occurrence, Distribution, and Main Drivers

This study systematically elucidated the spatiotemporal distributions, partitioning behaviors, and environmental risks of 46 antibiotics in water and the suspended particulate matter (SPM) in the Yellow River Delta.Totally, 12 and 18 antibiotics were pervasively detected in water and SPM in two seasons, contributed predominantly by fluoroquinolones and followed by tetracyclines and sulfonamides.The total antibiotic concentrations displayed significant spatial and seasonal variations in water (151-4.72 x 10³ ng/L), with a higher concentration observed in estuaries in spring, resulting from varying consumption patterns, external pollution emissions, and natural attentions.The spatiotemporal trends in SPM (118-8.84 x 10³ ng/g) were parallel with water, indicating SPM served as a critical sink and an internal pollution source of antibiotics, when hydrodynamic conditions changed.The dominant occurrence of fluoroquinolones and several tetracyclines and sulfonamides in SPM suggested that the partitioning coefficient (Kd) was an important indicator to determine antibiotic sorption potentials onto SPM, which were associated with the differences in the physicochem. properties of antibiotics and SPM and water chem.Environmental risk assessment revealed cinoxacin and enoxacin universally exhibited potential risks for the ecosystem and resistance development from medium to high, and special attention should be given to the high joint risks of the co-occurrence of multiple antibiotics in the Yellow River Delta.
