Velocity will gain access to a network of multi-specialty providers and expand its therapeutic base.
Velocity Clinical Research and Privia Health will work together to open embedded clinical research sites, starting in Abilene, Texas.
The new partnership will add clinical trial capabilities to existing Privia Care Center locations that are not already conducting research, according to a Tuesday release. Velocity’s staff will operate the facilities to add experience in clinical trial operations and patient recruitment.
The first site will be at West Texas Health in Abilene, Texas, which is helmed by Thomas Headstream, M.D.
Privia Health Chief Clinical Officer Keith Fernandez, M.D., said the deal supports the company’s mission to lighten the administrative burden for doctors and their practices to allow them to participate in research.
Velocity, meanwhile, will gain access to a network of multi-specialty providers and expand its therapeutic base. The partnership will also help bring on new principal investigators amid a long-term decline in interest.
Velocity has the people and Privia has the coverage,” Velocity CEO Paul Evans, Ph.D., said in a statement.
Velocity acquired Meridian Medical Research late last year to accelerate its growth into specialty care. The buyout was one in a string of deals for Velocity, which is stocking up on clinical trial site operators.
