Genetic medicine startup Aera Therapeutics, which emerged last February with $193 million, has laid off 25% of its staff, a spokesperson confirmed to Endpoints News Thursday afternoon.
The Boston startup is built on work out of CRISPR pioneer Feng Zhang and the University of Utah’s Jason Shepherd, and it had reeled in some of the biggest biotech venture backers like ARCH and GV.
The layoffs come the same day another Zhang startup was publicly launched with $57 million for epigenetic biotech Moonwalk Biosciences.
