Exo Works™ Achieves HITRUST and SOC 2 Type II Certifications, Meeting Highest Bar for Patient Data Security

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Exo® (pronounced “echo”), a pioneering medical imaging software and devices company, today announced that Exo Works™, the company’s point-of-care ultrasound workflow solution, has earned Certified status for information security by HITRUST and has successfully completed the Service Organization Control (SOC 2) Type II certification. These achievements provide additional assurances that Exo sufficiently manages risk, improves security posture and meets compliance requirements for protecting patient data.
'Achieving the HITRUST Certification and successfully completing the SOC 2 Type II certification places Exo in an elite group of organizations worldwide'
HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certified status validates that Exo Works has met key regulations and is appropriately managing risk according to the framework of controls put forth by HITRUST. In part because of its alignment with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), HITRUST is considered a foundational certification for healthcare organizations. By achieving it, Exo customers can be assured that Exo Works is meeting the highest standards for data security.
“In today’s ever-changing threat landscape, HITRUST is continually innovating to find new and creative approaches to address challenges,” said Jeremy Huval, Chief Innovation Officer, HITRUST. “Exo’s HITRUST Risk-based, 2-year Certification is evidence that the company is at the forefront of industry best practices for information risk management and compliance.”
SOC 2 Type II audits are designed to provide independent confirmation that organizations have sufficient controls in place to mitigate security and confidentiality risks over an extended time period. The third-party audit confirms for hospital IT teams that Exo Works is undertaking all security best practices for service providers tasked with handling customer data, including data stored in the cloud.
“Achieving the HITRUST Certification and successfully completing the SOC 2 Type II certification places Exo in an elite group of organizations worldwide,” said Ketan Patel, Head of Security & Cloud Operations at Exo. “In doing so, we are demonstrating to our healthcare customers that we hold the security of their data in the highest regard.”
Exo launched Exo Works in March 2022 to address common point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) workflow challenges. Its intuitive and lightning-fast platform makes it easier than ever for physicians to document, bill, and review ultrasound exams in seconds, freeing up time to spend on patient care. Exo Works can be accessed from a smartphone, tablet or web browser and integrates with nearly any POCUS device and the most common hospital EMR and PACS systems.
