CES 2023: Smart Buds Cut Noise for Better Sound [video]

Have you heard? CES 2023 exhibitors showcased an array of hearing-related gizmos. In addition to headphones for audiophiles, earbuds for fitness enthusiasts, and OTC hearing aids for people with mild to moderate hearing loss, CES also introduced Motorola’s new Moto Buds 600 ANC true wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC). The new Moto earbuds aren’t hearing aids, but they help you make voice calls and listen to streaming audio with high quality sound.
Motorola developed the Moto Buds 600 ANC with advanced Qualcomm technology. Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound super produces wideband 32kHz voice audio for phone calls and up to 24-bit 96kHz high -resolution audio for music. Qualcomm aptX Voice tech also supports voice calls using Bluetooth with a paired phone. Qualcomm cVc Echo Cancelling and Noise Suppression (ECNS) cuts noise levels by as much as 35 decibels using six microphones to defeat the noises you don’t want to hear.
Moto Buds 600 ANC battery life lasts up to 6 hours, with an additional 20 hours in the portable charging case for a total 26 hours playing time. Fully recharging the earbuds takes 2 hours, according to Motorola. The IPX5 water resistant Moto Buds 600 ANC can connect via Bluetooth with two wireless devices simultaneously. That feature can make it easy to switch the earbuds between your phone and a separate streaming source, for example. You can also control the earbuds hands-free with integrated Google Assistant voice controls.
Motorola’s Moto Buds 600 ANC will cost $600 when they ship in March. We haven’t tried the new earbuds, but it’s possible the combination of high-quality voice audio and up to 35 decibel noise cancellation will be a good choice to help people with very mild hearing impairment hear voices phone calls and listen to streaming media such as podcasts.
