Two Bay Area venture capital firms that invest in biotech startups — but also put their money behind a broader swath of nascent companies in biology, tech and adjacent fields — said Thursday morning that they’d raised new funds.
Palo Alto-based Playground Global brought in a $410 million third fund and Artis Ventures closed a $200 million fund dubbed TechBio II. The raises came in about $90 million and $100 million below original targets, respectively, as outlined in SEC filings.
