Axalta’s Tlalnepantla Manufacturing Facility Celebrates 70 Years

Axalta announced that its Tlalnepantla, Mexico manufacturing facility recently celebrated 70 years supporting the global coatings industry. The plant opened in 1952 and initially focused on manufacturing automotive refinish products.
Over the years, Axalta has invested in the facility to drive improved production innovation that enables the site to export products to other regions such as North America, Central America, Asia Pacific and South America. Tlalnepantla manufactures the company’s new Cromax® Gen, a next generation basecoat technology, for customers in Latin America, the United States and Canada.
“We are proud to celebrate 70 years of success thanks to the commitment and dedication of each one of our employees who have been part of the strong history of the Tlalnepantla site,” said Daniel Salcido, President of Axalta Mexico and Vice President of Refinish Axalta Latin America. “We also have a supportive distributor network and customers who trust us to provide the quality products and solutions they have come to expect.”
“Axalta has supported the coatings industry for more than 150 years,” added Fabián Castillo, Axalta Tlalnepantla Plant Manager. “We are a significant part of that history and Axalta’s commitment to Mexico and beyond. We have become a world-class production facility and one of the company’s largest operation centers globally.”
The Tlalnepantla plant is certified as Clean Industry, ISO 14001:2015, Integral Responsibility and Responsible Care 14001:2015 in Health, Safety and Environment. For quality, the plant is certified International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and ISO9000.
Axalta’s Tlalnepantla site has expanded to include a Training Center and the largest Axalta Distribution Center in Mexico. It is one of the company's three manufacturing facilities in Mexico. Globally, Axalta has 47 manufacturing plants.
