Altera Digital Health completes Sunrise EMR rollout in Gippsland Altera Digital Health's Sunrise EMR has been fully rolled out across major regional and subregional health services under the Gippsland Health Alliance in Victoria. This comes as the third phase of Sunrise implementation in GHA's emergency department facilities has been completed. According to Altera, the rollout is Australia's largest EMR deployment on Microsoft Azure. The health IT company won the competitive tender to deliver an EMR solution to GHA in late 2017 with the first implementation at Latrobe Regional Hospital. Archives NZ discloses breach of historical health records New Zealand's national archive Archives NZ has disclosed instances of unauthorised access to historical health records which happened three months ago. On 19 September, the agency was informed by a former Archives NZ staff member that some digitised health records dating as far back as the 1950s have been made open access by mistake. These records, which were restricted to the public, became unintentionally viewable to public users of the Rosetta digital images system. The records include Sunnyside Hospital's admissions book from 1952-56; a 1968 diary, and an admission book from 1966-1973 for admitted criminal offenders. Following this, the agency immediately restricted access to the records and formally notified both the Privacy Commission and Te Whatu Ora of a potential privacy breach. "We sincerely apologise for this incident, which was a result of human error. We want to reassure you that immediate corrective steps have been taken. We understand if you may feel anxious or worried about this breach of information," the chief archivist said in a statement. So far, it was only known that two members of the public had accessed the said records in August. According to Archives NZ, "it has not been possible to determine whether images were downloaded or shared during the access events." Nonetheless, the agency has a "high degree of confidence that the scope is limited, and that this is a one-off case due to human error rather than systemic issues." WA Health launches $3M prize to deliver remote care solution in Pilbara The Western Australia Department of Health has kicked off a global challenge to deliver a remote care solution in Pilbara. BHP Group Limited, Rio Tinto and the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund have partnered to deliver the A$5 million ($3.3 million) prize challenge, which seeks to develop a research-backed technological solution to improve health outcomes for people living in the far-reaching region of Pilbara. WA Health is now accepting submissions from industry, private sector, public sector agencies, universities, research institutes or collaborations from international organisations.
