Additionally, major U.S. Automobile manufacturers have issued stringent requirements with regards to the use of nitrosamines. One company has issued a restricted substances standard that prohibits the use of nitrosamines in excess of the 0.1 % threshold value of the part's total weight. With over 300 nitrosamines listed as either known or suspected carcinogens, safety continues to drive the elimination of nitrosamines in the rubber industry.
