Thiamethoxam (2%) pyroquilon (12%) Seedling Box Granule (SBGR) by new formulation technol. showed good and sufficient efficacy against rice blast in the Tohoku area in 2003.The SBGR was as effective or more effective than some com. products. To clarify the relationship between residual activity against rice blast and pyroquilon d. in rice plant, the pyroquilon concentration in rice plant was analyzed at one-week or two-week intervals after transplanting.Pyroquilon provided by seedling box treatment was detected throughout the leaf blast season, and its concentration was maintained at 0.1 ppm for 63 days after transplanting. The 0.1 ppm concentration has been reported as the lowest effective limit against rice blast in the case of application of the nonrelease-controlled formulation for into-water application. It seemed that long-lasting efficacy of Thiamethoxam Pyroquilon SBGR against rice blast was achieved by release-controlled formulation.
