The purpose of the Phase Ib portion is to find out the highest dose of study drug that can safely be given when tested in a small group of subjects.
The purpose of the Phase II portion is to find out how safe the study drug is when taken at the highest dose in a larger group of subjects.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether participants with platinum-resistant squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) who receive either E7050 administered with cetuximab or cetuximab alone experience greater benefit.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who receive either E7050 administered with Sorafenib or Sorafenib alone experience greater benefit (cancer responds to treatment) when E7050 is administered with Sorafenib.
