The betaine content in fermentation fluid was determined by high performance liquid chromatog.A hypersil-NH₂ chem.-bonded column (4.6 mm × 250 mm, 5 μm) was used with acetonitrile-water (65:35) as mobile phase and a refractive index detector was used for deletion.The external standard method was used for quantification.A good linear relationship was maintained over the range of 48.42-629.46 μg/mL with r = 0.996.The average recovery was 100.89%.This method is suitable for determination of betaine content in fermentation fluid.
