A new implant for osteosynthesis of small bones is presented. In hand and foot surgery, osteosynthesis is often realized with good success by using shape memory staples since about 10 years.Unfortunately, in very small bones (i.e. fingers tips), it is not always possible to use these staples due to external volumeOther techniques like K-Wires or screws lead to the risk of infection and/or poor stability.A new developed implant is a special intramedullary concept, with an H-shape, in a luck-warm memory, leading to better results and lower risks. This paper presents the different stages of this work: former techniques, new concept, adjustment of properties of the material to the surgical technique, creation of the specific instrumentation and surgical technique.
