HNBR is a kind of high performance hydrogenated nitrile specialty rubber, which was broadly used in the car and oil industries.HNBR was traditionally prepared by hydrogenation with either Pd or Rh catalysts.This presentation discloses a unique manufacturing technol. and uses developed with Zhan Catalysts by Zannan SciTech Company in China.So far, different grades of HNBR products (Zhanber) have been prepared with broad range of phys. properties and uses, such as 20-50% acrylonitrile content, 90-99% hydrogenated saturation and 20-130 Mooney viscosity grades.Moreover, it is noteworthy that Zhanber HNBR with low Mooney viscosity grades such as ZN35153 (36±1.5% acrylonitrile content, 95% of saturation and 30±5 Mooney viscosity), ZN35253 (34±1.5% acrylonitrile content, 90% saturation and 30±5 Mooney viscosity) and ZN43254 (43±1.5% acrylonitrile content, 90% saturation and 40±5 Mooney viscosity) are characteristic grades of Zhanber HNBR with better mech. property.In the present work, it carried out the contrast experiments on Zhanber HNBR in comparison with other Therben and Zetpol HNBR rubbers according to the same standard compounding formula and comparatively studied on their process performance, mech., heat aging resistance, oil resistance and low temperature resistance properties.In addition, it performed some application R&D on Zhanber HNBR for auto synchronous belt, seals and oilfield rubber products.In conclusion, the Zhanber HNBR has excellent phys. properties and no significant difference on processing performance, phys. and mech. properties with other well-known Therben and Zetpol HNBR products, and Zhanber HNBR can be broadly used for the synchronous belt, seals and other rubber products.Finally, the Zhanber HNBR with low Mooney viscosity can not only improve the phys. and mech. properties of vulcanized rubber, but also improve the processing performance of compounds, which provides rubber industry with more choices in different kinds of applications.
