Nutrisens Group expands in Latin America with the acquisition of a majority stake of Prodiet, a leading Brazilian specialist in clinical nutrition for special medical purposes. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Curitiba, Paraná State, Brazil, Prodiet is a fast-growing Brazilian manufacturer of oral and enteral nutrition products in various forms (including tube feeding, liquids and powders) for patients with neurological conditions, post-surgery eating difficulties, muscle disorders, chronic diseases and various age-related illnesses. Prodiet distributes its products through hospitals, pharmacies and online channels, or via a network of distributors. Prodiet currently operates two production facilities in Curitiba and employs nearly 200 people across Brazil. Over the past two decades, it has experienced steady growth positioning itself as one of Latin America’s largest and fastest growing independent players in the clinical nutrition sector. Revenue synergies are expected to materialize in the medium run with notably (i) the cross-selling of Nutrisens’ portfolio in Brazil and of Prodiet’s products in Europe, (ii) the combination of Prodiet and Nutrisens capabilities and best practices in terms of innovation and (iii) the optimization of sourcing and logistics. In addition, with this acquisition, not only Nutrisens enters Brazil, pursuing its international expansion, but also establishes a strong local platform to address the broader Latin America market. Prodiet’s extensive experience in both direct and distributor-led exports will play a crucial role in this regional strategy. Armando Tortelli and Ana Paula Celes, founders of Prodiet, remain shareholders in the company and will continue to support its growth trajectory. “We have built Prodiet over the past 20 years with hard work and dedication, and we believe that this new phase, alongside Nutrisens, will bring even more opportunities for the company's future. Our decision to remain as partners reflects our confidence in this project and in Nutrisens' ability to further drive Prodiet’s growth.” Gabriel Tortelli, CEO of Prodiet, commented: “The entire Prodiet team is thrilled to join Nutrisens which has demonstrated remarkable growth in Europe over the past 15 years. The common entrepreneurial culture, that Nutrisens and Prodiet both share, was very important in the choice of their future partner and will facilitate a quick and effective integration of our teams. We are eager to collaborate with them to accelerate our growth in Brazil and across Latin America leveraging their product and industrial knowhow.” Georges Devesa, CEO of Nutrisens, stated: “We have been closely monitoring Prodiet’s trajectory over the past five years, recognizing it as a top performer in Brazil thanks to its high-quality production facilities and exceptional leadership team. Brazil is by far the largest clinical nutrition market in Latin America. We expect significant synergies between this new geography and Europe thanks to the complementarity of our respective portfolios.
