In situ construction of a Li-Ag&LiF interface enables stable cycling of all-solid-state lithium-metal batteries

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are regarded as promising candidates for developing high energy-density Li metal batteries because of their flexible processability and low cost. However, the application of SPEs is still inherently impeded by the mediocre ionic conductivity and unstable Li/electrolyte interface. In this work, the silver fluoride (AgF) additive is introduced to optimize the ionic conductivity of PEO and induce the formation of stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer between Li metal and SPEs interface, thereby inhibiting the growth of lithium dendrites. AgF can be complex with anions to promote the dissociation of Li⁺-TFSI^- ion pairs, improving the mobility of Li⁺ ions, as confirmed by experimental and computational studies. Moreover, the AgF converses to LiF and Li-Ag alloys via in-situ electrochemical reaction with Li anode, which can not only prevent the Li metal from parasitic reactions, but also reduce the concentration gradient of Li⁺ ions. Hence, the Li|Li symmetric cell containing PEO-3 % AgF electrolyte demonstrates stable cyclability for 1800 h at 0.2 mA cm^-2 (60 °C). When paired with a commercial LiFePO₄ cathode, the resulting all-solid-state Li-metal battery delivers remarkable cyclic performance of 126.9 mAh g^-1 after 400 cycles (0.5 C). This work provides a new approach for the development of composite solid-state electrolyte films and lithium metal anodes in all-solid-state batteries.

Circulating Angiopoietin-like Protein 6 Levels and Clinical Features in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Objective The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the associations between circulating angiopoietin-like protein 6 (ANGPTL6) levels and various diabetes- and atherosclerosis-related variables in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods Serum ANGPTL6 levels in patients with type 2 diabetes hospitalized for glycemic control and/or diabetic education were measured using a chemiluminescent immunoassay. Results Most patients had elevated hemoglobin (Hb) A1c levels; 85.7% and 71.4% of patients had HbA1c levels ≥8%, and ≥9%, respectively. ANGPTL6 levels were significantly higher in patients with type 2 diabetes than in non-diabetic controls. In patients with type 2 diabetes, ANGPTL6 was significantly and positively correlated with the duration of diabetes, systolic blood pressure, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, C-reactive protein (CRP), and the intimal medial complex thickness of the carotid artery (IMT), and inversely correlated with HbA1c. In the multiple regression analysis, ANGPTL6 had a significant positive association with triglyceride in one of the models in which it was included as a variable. Furthermore, ANGPTL6 also showed significant positive associations with CRP and IMT in models in which they were included as variables. Conclusion The current study suggests that circulating levels of ANGPTL6 may be negatively associated with poor glycemic control and positively associated with the degree of atherosclerosis, as reflected by IMT, in patients with type 2 diabetes, most of whom had elevated HbA1c levels.

Familial intracranial aneurysms (FIAs) are distinguished by significant genetic predisposition, leading to clustering of cases within families and heightening the risk of subarachnoid hemorrhage following aneurysm rupture. This review analyzes recent advancements in understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying FIAs, focusing on key genetic risk factors and environmental influences. We explore cutting-edge genome-wide association studies and next-generation sequencing technologies, which have identified susceptibility genes such as ANGPTL6, peptidyl proline cis-trans isomerase like protein 4, and NOTCH3 as crucial contributors to FIA pathophysiology. By incorporating findings from multiomics and gene-editing research, we highlight the potential for improved screening, preventive strategies, and therapeutic approaches. These insights are essential to advancing precision medicine in managing FIAs, paving the way for collaborative research and targeted interventions.
