Third Quarter 2023 Financial Results For the three months ended September 30, 2023, we incurred a net loss of $3.6 million, or $1.31 per share, which included $0.4 million in stock-based compensation. For the same period in the prior year, we incurred a net loss of $7.5 million, or $3.47 per share, which included $0.7 million in stock-based compensation. R&D expenses were $1.3 million for the three months ended September 30, 2023, which included $0.1 million in stock-based compensation. For the same period in the prior year, R&D expenses were $4.9 million, which included $0.3 million of stock-based compensation. The decrease was primarily related to a decrease in expenses related to subcontractors, advisors, and laboratory supplies in connection with preclinical research and development activities related to inhaled delivery of ELX-02 in CF, a decrease in CFF funded activities, a decrease in salaries and other personnel costs, a decrease related to stock-based compensation, and a decrease in facility and overhead expenses. General and administrative (G&A) expenses were $2.4 million for the three months ended September 30, 2023, which included $0.4 million in stock-based compensation. For the same period in the prior year, G&A expenses were $2.3 million, which included $0.4 million of stock-based compensation. The increase was primarily related to a $0.2 million increase in expenses attributable to professional and consulting fees, offset by a decrease of $0.1 million related to facility and overhead expenses. As of September 30, 2023, we had unrestricted cash and cash equivalents of $4.8 million. During the quarter, we raised gross proceeds of $2.0 million from the sale of shares of common stock, pre-funded warrants and warrants. Additionally, we sold shares of common stock through our ATM program during the quarter for gross proceeds of $1.8 million. Eloxx remains focused on its liquidity position and raising additional capital in the near term in order to fund its operating plan through the end of 2023 and beyond. They have developed a highly accurate method for the quantification of podocyte foot process morphology. These results confirm previously reported positive biopsy results from the proof-of-concept Phase 2 open-label clinical trial (NCT05448755) of ELX-02 for the treatment of Nonsense Mutation Alport syndrome patients. Analysis of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) biopsy samples by Nipoka show ELX-02 treatment improved podocyte foot process morphology with lower effacement in all three patients at the end of the 8-week study period. “With this accurate analysis of the patient biopsies and quantification of changes, we now have unequivocal evidence of morphology and clinical improvement in all three Nonsense Mutation Alport patients treated with ELX-02. FSD is a quantitative measure of the degree of podocyte foot process effacement. Higher FSD correlates with better podocyte health and lower podocyte foot process effacement. Visual assessment of TEM images from kidney biopsies showed an improvement in foot process effacement in all three treated patients consistent with disease regression. Alport syndrome is a rare genetic kidney disorder caused by mutations in COL4A3/4/5 genes, characterized by podocyte injury and impaired kidney filter function leading to proteinuria.
