What are the advantages of eCRF over CRF?

6 December 2023
2 min read

The advantages of eCRF over CRF include:
Digital format: eCRFs are stored digitally, which eliminates the need for physical storage and reduces the risk of loss or damage.
Security: eCRFs are typically password-protected and encrypted, providing better security compared to paper CRFs.
Transportation: eCRFs can be accessed remotely, reducing the need for transportation of physical CRFs.
Ease of use: eCRFs can be designed to be user-friendly, allowing researchers to quickly and accurately enter data without the need for extensive training.
Flexibility: eCRFs can be easily modified and updated as needed, allowing for greater flexibility in data collection and analysis.
For the preservation of CRFs, several requirements should be met:
Physical security: CRFs should be stored securely, preferably in a locked cabinet or room, with restricted access to authorized personnel only.
Temperature control: CRFs should be kept in a temperature-controlled environment to prevent damage from exposure to extreme temperatures or humidity.
Maintenance: CRFs should be maintained regularly to ensure they are in good condition and free from dust, dirt, or other contaminants.
Backup copies: Copies of CRFs should be made and stored in a separate location to provide protection against loss or damage.
Documentation: All changes made to CRFs should be recorded and tracked to ensure accuracy and completeness of data collected.
