This phase Ib trial evaluates the side effects and best dose of choline salicylate given together with a low dose of selinexor in treating patients with non-Hodgkin or Hodgkin lymphoma, or multiple myeloma whose prior treatment did not help their cancer (refractory) or for patients with histiocytic/dendritic cell neoplasm. Anti-inflammatory drugs, such as choline salicylate lower the body's immune response and are used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of cancer. Selinexor may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking a protein called CRM1 that is needed for cell growth. This trial may help doctors learn more about selinexor and choline salicylate as a treatment for with non-Hodgkin or Hodgkin lymphoma, histiocytic/dendritic cell neoplasm, multiple myeloma.

Unveiling Dissolution Kinetics of CuO Nanofertilizer Using Bio-Based Ionic Liquids Envisaging Controlled Use Efficiency for Sustainable Agriculture

The need for sustainable agriculture amid a growing population and challenging climatic conditions is hindered by the environmental repercussions of widespread fertilizer use, resulting in the accumulation of metal ions and the loss of micronutrients. The present study provides an approach to improve the efficiency of nanofertilizers by controlling the release of copper (Cu) ions from copper oxide (CuO) nanofertilizers through bioionic liquids based on plant growth regulators (PGR-ILs). A 7-day study was conducted to understand the kinetics of Cu ion release in aqueous solution of five different PGR-ILs, with choline ascorbate ([Cho][Asc]) or choline salicylate ([Cho][Sal]) leading to 200- to 700-fold higher dissolution of Cu ions in comparison to choline indole-3-acetate ([Cho][IAA]), choline indole-3-butyrate ([Cho][IBA]), and choline gibberellate ([Cho][GA₃]). The tunable diffusion of Cu ions from CuO nanofertilizers using PGR-ILs is then applied in a foliar spray study, evaluating its impact on the growth phenotype, photosynthetic parameters, and carbon dioxide (CO₂) sequestration in Nicotiana tabacum in a greenhouse. The results indicate that nanoformulations with lower concentrations of Cu ions in PGR-IL solutions exhibit superior outcomes in terms of plant length, net photosynthetic rate, dry biomass yield, and CO₂ sequestration, emphasizing the critical role of dissolution kinetics in determining the effectiveness of PGR-IL-based nanoformulations for sustainable agriculture.

Development and Evaluation of <i>In Situ</i> Gel Formation for Treatment of Mouth Ulcer

ObjectivesMouth ulcers are one of the most prevalent conditions that can be caused by a range of circumstances. Many formulations, such as solutions, suspensions, and ointments are available commercially. However, because there is no long-term effect, no medication can be regarded as totally effective for treating mouth ulcers. The use of bioadhesive methods can boost the therapy efficacy. Because it is easier to administer than prepared gel formulations, the phenomenon of the sol-to-gel conversion can be beneficial. The major goal of this study was to develop and test in situ gels for treating mouth ulcers using choline salicylate and borax as model medicines.Materials and MethodsBecause a thermosensitive polymer was employed in this formulation, the sol-to-gel change was thermally reversible, and the frequency of administration was reduced by using the mucoadhesive polymer carbopol. Gelation temperature, pH, gel strength, spreadability, in vitro mucoadhesion, and in vitro drug release were all measured in the formulations.ResultsThe experimental section indicated that viscosity of sols and gel strength increased with increasing temperature, i.e., gel can be created at the site of application owing to body temperature. When poloxamer 407 was used at a concentration of 14 to 16 percent w/v, the gelling temperature was close to the body temperature (35-38 °C), but when carbopol 934P was added, the gelling temperature was raised. All formulations had pH between 5.5 and 6.8. All formulations had viscosities of less than 1000 cps, allowing for simple administration of the formulation to a mouth ulcer.ConclusionAs a result, a correctly developed in situ gel for oral ulcers can extend the duration spent at the application site and minimize the frequency of administration. These findings show that the developed technology is a viable alternative to traditional drug delivery systems and can help patients comply.

Management of Oral Mucosal Lesions in Salicylate Sensitive Stevens–Johnson Syndrome – A Case Report

In the present era, the use of drugs is an important paradigm of health care. Reactions to drugs range from minor cutaneous reactions to potentially lethal conditions like Stevens–Johnson syndrome. A 13-year-old, male patient, known case of Stevens–Johnson Syndrome was referred from the pediatric ward for the management of oral mucosal lesions, post consumption of the antibiotic combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Failure of lesion regression led to the change in the treatment plan, speculating an allergic reaction to one of the components of the initial treatment medication (choline salicylate) as well. Identification and withdrawal of the offending medication and rendering supportive care along with treatment of the lesions with topical corticosteroids form the outline of management. This case report demonstrates the approach undertaken by the pediatric dentist to cure the oral mucosal lesions in symbiosis with pediatricians, ophthalmologists and nutritionists to cure this life-threatening condition.
