/ CompletedNot Applicable A Study of Efficacy and Safety of Three Different Oral Iron-Containing Dietary Supplements in Correction of Hematological Indices and Replenishment of Depleted Iron Stores in Iron Deficient Adults With or Without Mild Microcytic Anemia
The study is designed as a parallel, randomized, double blind, three-arm single-center study exploring the efficacy and safety of 12-week once daily oral dosing of iron for correction of overall iron status in 150 otherwise healthy iron-deficient adults presenting with or without mild microcytic anemia. Three iron-containing preparations in the form of either Ferrous Sulfate Capsules, >Your< Iron Forte Capsules, or >Your< Iron Forte Liquid will be tested. Potential study participants will be recruited from the general population of 18-50 year old adults. Participant eligibility will be determined by screening for hemoglobin and ferritin (in combination with C-reactive protein) levels in a sample of venous blood. Eligible individuals will be invited to participate in the study. Enrolled participants will be randomized into one of three intervention groups in a 1:1:1 ratio, receiving either Ferrous Sulfate Capsules, >Your< Iron Forte Capsules, or >Your< Iron Forte Liquid. Efficacy and safety of the assigned interventions will be evaluated through analyses of relevant hematological (hemoglobin, red blood cell indices) and biochemical (ferritin, transferrin saturation) iron-related parameters and reported adverse events after the first 4 and after a total of 12 weeks of intervention.
/ CompletedNot Applicable Prospective Study on the Efficacy and Safety of Uronext® in Parallel Groups in Women With Cystitis in the Acute Stage
The study is designed as a prospective parallel open label, two-arm, single center study exploring efficacy and safety of the use of the dietary supplement Uronext in women with cystitis in the acute stage. 120 otherwise healthy women with acute cystitis infection confirmed with the urine bacteriological examinations, aged 18-18 years, will be recruited. The distribution of patients will be done in 1:1 ratio. Control group will receive standard therapy, Monural (fosfomycin trometamol) 3 g, at the first day of the trial. The second group will also receive Monural (fosfomycin trometamol) 3 g, at the first day of the trial as well as Uronext food supplement, 1 time per day for the first 7 days. After the 7 day break, participants in the second group will follow supplementation scheme for the next 3 month.
Primary objective of the study is evaluation of the effectiveness of the dietary supplement Uronext in women with cystitis in the acute stage in the prevention of subsequent exacerbations of recurrent cystitis during 3 months of observation, measured as the number of relapses throughout the study period. Participnats will also fill in urination diary and questionnaires related to pain perception, quality of life and cystitis symptoms. Urine samples will be further examined at the follow up visits.
Safety will be evaluated based on reported adverse events, assessment of vital signs and laboratory evaluation.
/ CompletedNot Applicable Efficacy of >Your< Iron Syrup Supplementation in Children With Iron Deficiency With or Without Mild Microcytic Anemia - a Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Multicentric Clinical Study
The study evaluates the efficacy and safety of >Your< Iron Syrup, a novel iron-containing dietary supplement, in the management of dietary iron deficiency in children. The study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled intervention conducted in 16 research centers in Slovenia, collectively enrolling 92 eligible children. Eligibility of children for participation in the study will be determined by screening for hemoglobin and ferritin (combined with C-reactive protein) levels in a sample of capillary blood. Eligible children will receive basic dietary advice on how to increase the consumption of dietary iron and will be invited to participate in the study. Enrolled children will be randomized to either >Your< Iron Syrup arm or to placebo arm in a 3:1 ratio, respectively. Changes in body iron stores (ferritin) and in hematological indices as well as occurence of any adverse events will be monitored after 4 and 12 weeks of once-daily supplementation with either >Your< Iron Syrup or placebo.
