The E-CAP process, using high pressure pulses, formed the microcapsules in a far faster time frame over the agitation method.The shell coating level was approx. the same for both capsule products but the E-CAP made capsules were only 45% of the size of the conventional product.Despite the smaller size, E-CAP capsules released at a slower rate than the conventional product.Thus, potential applications of the E-CAP are not only to form microcapsules but to enhance or extend their controlled release properties.
