Basic Info

Introduction
Academia Sinica, situated in Nangang District, Taipei, is the national academy of the Republic of China (Taiwan). It facilitates research in diverse fields, including mathematical and physical sciences, life sciences, and humanities and social sciences. As an educational institution, it offers PhD training and scholarships through its English-language Taiwan International Graduate Program in various subjects such as biology, agriculture, chemistry, physics, informatics, and earth and environmental sciences. Academia Sinica is ranked 144th in the Nature Publishing Index - 2014 Global Top 200 and 22nd in the Reuters World's Most Innovative Research Institutions. Currently, James C. Liao, an expert in metabolic engineering, systems biology, and synthetic biology, serves as the president since 2016.
