The contents of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid in Fructus Ligustri lucidi were determined for the quality control of Fructus Ligustri lucidi.Oleanolic acid and ursolic acid were separated completely under solid chromatog. condition, and the contents were assayed by RP-HPLC.A Kromasil DR100-5 C18 column (4.6 mm × 250 mm, 5 μm) was used with the mobile phase of [acetonitrile-methanol (1:1)]-water (90:10), flow rate was 0.8 mL/min, and detection wavelength was at 210 nm.The linear range of oleanolic acid in eleven batches of samples was 0.108-3.24 μg, and the linear range of ursolic acid was 0.060-1.800 μg.The average recoveries of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid were 100.50% and 98.05% with RSD of 2.36% and 2.6%, resp. The contents of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid were 0.639-1.340 mg/g and 0.168-0.377 mg/g, resp. This method was simple, stable, accurate, and reliable for the quality control of Fructus Ligustri lucidi.
