PVC pellets were subjected to dechlorination in a batch reactor with hot water or solutions of THF, cyclohexanone, or MeOH.At 230-280°, dechlorination rate constants were obtained under the assumption of first-order kinetics with respect to the Cl content in the solid sample.The rate constant for dechlorination with water (1 mL) + THF (1 mL) was nearly 3 times of that with water, although they have almost the same activation energy, 205 kJ/mol.
