Development and Validation of a Multi-Mineral Fluoride Mouthrinse
The primary goals of this project are to determine the anticaries benefits of a prototype multi-mineral mouthrinse containing 225 ppm fluoride and 30 ppm of a Ca through the remineralization of enamel white-spots (non-cavitated lesions). The selection of patients with pre-existing white-spot lesions will permit an opportunity to evaluate the efficacy of the multi-mineral mouthrinse in reminerzalizing and/or inhibiting progression of enamel white-spot lesions.
/ CompletedNot Applicable Evaluation of a Low-fluoride Anticaries Toothpaste Containing an Innovative Calcium Technology
The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the anticaries remineralizing potential of a toothpaste containing 500 ppm fluoride plus fTCP technology relative to a commercially available toothpaste via a double-blind cross-over in situ (or intra-oral) clinical model, whereby approved human participants will wear an orthodontic appliance fitted with an enamel specimen for the duration of a leg (28 days). There will be two test legs.

The growth kinetics and in vitro biocompatibility of Nb2O5 microcones

Metal oxides have been explored as potential surgical implant coatings designed to incorporate the biocompatibility of the surface oxide with the durable mech. properties of the underlying metal.A novel anodization process has been designed which generates an oxide composed of crystalline Nb2O5 microcones interspersed in an amorphous interface oxide.Thin sheets of niobium metal were anodized in a HF(aq) electrolyte for 1, 2, and 4 h.SEM was used to analyze the oxide features for each anodization time.Larger and fewer microcones resulted from increased anodization time.Due to the requirement of surgical implants to be autoclaved before implantation, the microcone features were analyzed using SEM before and after autoclaving.Statistical anal. showed that the microcone features changed very little after autoclaving.MC3T3-E1 pre-osteoblast cells cultured on the autoclaved disks indicated that the 1 h and 4 h groups support the highest amount of cell proliferation.
