A cyclopeptide is a type of peptide in which the amino acid sequence forms a cyclic rather than a linear structure. The "end" amino acids in the sequence are also bonded together, forming a closed-loop. This circular formation can provide increased stability and resistance to degradation compared to linear peptides. Cyclopeptides are found naturally in a number of organisms and have a variety of biological activities, making them targets for pharmaceutical research. Reported cyclic peptide compounds possess diverse biological activities, including anti-tumor, anti-HIV, anti-bacterial, anti-malaria, sleep-inducing, platelet aggregation inhibition, blood pressure lowering, tyrosinase inhibition, cyclooxygenase inhibition, lipid peroxidase inhibition, estrogen-like, immune suppression, and so on.
