, LTD (“Radiaction”), a medical device company, has announced the formation of its U.S. Medical Advisory Board (MAB). The MAB will provide invaluable counsel and expertise to the company's executive team, bolstering Radiaction's mission to deliver comprehensive radiation protection to all medical staff involved in interventional procedures. This initiative strongly emphasizes procedural adaptability integrated into various workflows, encompassing coronary, structural heart, electrophysiology, and peripheral procedures.

Members will serve as a resource for Radiaction's continuous efforts to develop an innovative and revolutionary approach to radiation protection that exceeds the capabilities of current technologies on the market. This includes a device that attaches to the C-arm to block radiation at the source. The device is regulated by the FDA and meets the highest standards of safety and efficacy.

There have been a number of technologies that have emerged to reduce scatter while addressing workflow and patient access concerns," said Dr. William Gray, a Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. "In my opinion, Radiaction's system provides an intuitive solution by blocking scatter radiation at the source. Kenneth Rosenfield, MD, MHCDS, MSCAI, FACC, FAHA, is an Interventional Cardiologist and the Section Head for Vascular Medicine and Intervention at Massachusetts General.
Dr. Rosenfield has led the transition to minimally invasive treatments for carotid, renal, and peripheral artery disease as a principal investigator in several landmark studies. He has served as President of SCAI, the Board of Governors of the ACC, is a co-founder of VIVA and is the Founder of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) Consortium, transforming the landscape of PE treatment, research, and education.
Nadia Sutton, MD, MPH, FSCAI, is an Assistant Professor and Director of Interventional Cardiology Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Sutton is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Her clinical and research activities include a focus on complex coronary artery disease. She serves on several national committees and boards, including the ACC and the AHA. She serves on the editorial board for JSCAI, is Chair of SCAI’s Women in Innovations Committee, is Assistant Chair of the SCAI Fellows Summit for Complex Cases, and is a member of the SCAI Nominating Committee.
William A. Gray, MD, MSCAI, is a Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, the System Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Main Line Health, the Philip D. Robinson Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine, and the Co-Director of Lankenau Heart Institute in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Gray is an interventional cardiologist by training, and his expertise includes catheter-based cardiovascular interventions such as repairing structural heart defects, mitral valve repair, and arterial and venous interventions. He has served as principal investigator for over 50 clinical trials of coronary, endovascular, and structural heart interventions.
Craig Walker, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology.
Dr. Walker founded the Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH), which hosts prestigious cardiovascular care conferences. He chairs the annual NCVH conference and over 20 regional meetings each year, making NCVH one of the largest peripheral vascular conferences. He is clinical editor of Vascular Disease Management and Clinical Professor of Medicine at LSU and Tulane University. He has been a principal investigator in the initial stent, atherectomy, and drug-coated balloon trials. He is known as a pioneer in interventional cardiology and has trained more than 1,500 physicians in advanced peripheral interventional techniques.
Jasvindar Singh, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is an Interventional Cardiologist in Saint Louis, MO.
Dr. Singh is a Professor of Medicine and the Section Head of Interventional and Structural Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He is the founder and chairman of the ARCH Consortium, which hosts annual medical meetings in coronary and structural heart education in St. Louis and Hawaii, including an elite fellows program. He received his medical degree from the University of the South Pacific/Fiji School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowships at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He has been a thought leader in the interventional space for over 20 years.
Evan Shlofmitz, DO, is an Interventional Cardiologist and the Director of Intravascular Imaging at St. Francis Hospital—The Heart Center in Roslyn, NY.
Dr. Shlofmitz completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Georgetown University/MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He is a co-director of the OPCI series of educational meetings, serves on the SCAI and CRT program committees, and is Chair of SCAI's Ischemic Heart Disease Council. His background and interests have focused on intravascular imaging and PCI optimization, with more than 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Michael S. Gossman, M.S., DABR, FAAPM, FACR, is the Chief Medical Physicist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.
Chief Gossman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, receiving his education as a Medical Physicist at the University of Louisville and Vanderbilt University. His training, experience, and expertise in radiological protection and regulations are extensive. He was notably a multiple-term Medical Consultant for the U.S. NRC. He has been recognized as a "Fellow" by the AAPM and the ACR. He is well-known and well-published and has assisted more than 15 different companies in the industry as a consultant.
Radiaction Medical may expand the MAB further to seek insights from additional healthcare specialties. The MAB is expected to convene regularly.
