This phase II trial studies how well haploidentical donor hematopoietic stem cell transplant works in treating patients with hematologic malignancies. Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. Giving an infusion of the donor's T cells (donor lymphocyte infusion) may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells. When the stem cells from a related donor, that closely matches the patient's blood, are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

Pilot Study of Prophylactic Dose-Escalation Donor Lymphocyte Infusion After T Cell Depleted Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant in High Risk Patients With Hematologic Malignancies

This pilot phase II trial studies how well giving donor T cells after donor stem cell transplant works in treating patients with hematologic malignancies. In a donor stem cell transplant, the donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Giving an infusion of the donor's T cells (donor lymphocyte infusion) after the transplant may help increase this effect.

A Two Step Approach to Reduced Intensity Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for High Risk Hematologic Malignancies

This phase II trial studies reduced-intensity conditioning before donor stem cell transplant in treating patients with high-risk hematologic malignancies. Giving low-doses of chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect).
